I find it hard to believe that they can't cancel your original decision, especially seeing you changed your mind long before the hiring of next year's set. So hopefully, you'll be ok, and in the inaka for another year. Woo go team!
Out of curiosity, have you looked into other options for staying out in Japan if the JET falls through? Because you could stay in the area as a private ELT. Anyway, I shall try to brainwash my office with positive Justin vibes, and hopefully it will spread like a plague type thing. X
*i think you can* *i think you can* *i think you can*
good luck. i agree with j.s. - there are lots of other things you can do in japan outside of JET. and with 2 years of teaching english under your belt, who wouldn't hire you?
In Portuguese, we would say "boa sorte", which means "good luck". And that's what I truly wish you! I just can't believe that things can be so difficult to fix, despite all the time there still is...
You should totally stay a 3rd year in Japan. America is overrated. Even NYC, where I am now, is a little bit overrated. What about Keio Academy in Nakatsu?

Sending lucky thoughts your way. I had to leave Japan way before I was through with it.
